This project aimed to design a platform that would be a playground for colleges across Vietnam. Through a user-focused design process that included research, wireframing, prototyping, and testing, I created an intuitive and visually appealing app and website that was well-received by users.
The platform helped students to quickly register for activities organized by the Vietnamese Student Association and manage their student profiles effectively. The app and website needed to be intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing to students and teachers. The Vietnamese Student Association also had a vision to implement new features to the app such as job search, mentoring, tuition loans, and forum discussions, and my job was to incorporate these features.
• To begin, I conducted a heuristic evaluation and A/B test to gain insights into how users (students) perceive the design and current flow of the app.
• For the new features, I researched apps with similar goals, such as job search (TopCV, VietnamWorks, CareerBuilder) and forum discussion (Facebook groups, Quora, Reddit).
• Next, for user testing, I developed mockups, high-fidelity prototypes, and a questionnaire about these new features to gather users' opinions on the most useful feature, identify any usability issues, and make necessary adjustments.
• Finally, I worked closely with the BA and development team to ensure that the final product was delivered according to the insights gained from users and design specifications.
The final product had the most-needed feature from users' votes: job search. The selling point was to require the university and the Vietnamese Student Association to verify jobs before posting on the app. As a result, the platform became a reliable source for students looking for jobs. This outcome is a sweet spot for students' and universities' needs.
